Presentation Slides for Recent July 15 Webinar for Alums and Friends by Dr. Calvin Troup on Major Communication Pitfalls of Conventional Preaching Available Online
(Pittsburgh, PA) -- July 15, 2008 -- Presentation slides for the recent July 15 alum webinar featuring Dr. Calvin Troup, adjunct professor of speech, on major communication pitfalls of conventional preaching, are available on the Professor Support area of the Alumni section on the website.
Dr. Troup is Associate Professor at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, where he is Director of the Rhetoric Ph.D. Program in the Department of Communication & Rhetorical Studies. His presentation for this webinar will pinpoint issues for preaching out of the Principles of Speech course required of M.T.S. students at RPTS, which most M.Div. students are not usually able to fit into their schedule as an elective.
In this webinar, entitled "From the Study to the Pulpit", Dr. Troup addressed the major communication pitfalls of conventional preaching, with the assumption that pastors already have done outsanding exegetical training and work in Seminary but could use further help and refreshment in organization of the message and presentation and delivery.
The webinar format was a live, online PowerPoint presentation with live lecture audio.
The next webinar will be on Tuesday, October 21, at 3 p.m. Dr. Dennis Prutow, professor of homiletics and pastoral theology, will share on preaching preparation procedures and having one homiletical point. To participate the day of the next event, log in at http://www.infiniteconferencing.com/join. The Participant Entry Code is 998991.
