REFORMED PRESBYTERIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY ANNOUNCES NEW HIRE
(Pittsburgh) – September 21, 2009 – The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) in Point Breeze announces the hire of Rev. Andrew Cooper to fill the position of church and student relations specialist. He continues to serve as adjunct professor of church history teaching the Black Church History course.Cooper is responsible for recruiting minority and urban students by developing current relationships and creating new ones with local church pastors. In addition, he will mentor current students on and off campus through efforts such as needs-assessment and an on-campus Bible study. A 2006 RPTS graduate in the 3-year Master of Divinity program, he also is currently a student in the Strengthening Pastoral Ministry concentration of the RPTS Doctor of Ministry program.
Cooper has served and ministered as an ordained deacon, associate minister, and pastor in various urban and African American communities. In addition, he has taught for the Craig Academy, Harty Bible School, and Center for Urban Biblical Ministry, all in Pittsburgh. He has a B.A. and an M.S.W. from the University of Pittsburgh.
