Announcement of the of the Reverend Jerome Stevenson Scholarship
Reverend James and Mrs. Linda Ross Brown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, are pleased to announce the establishment of the Reverend Jerome Stevenson Scholarship at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Reverend Doctor Stevenson went to his heavenly home on January 25, 2012. Dr. Stevenson was Moderator of the Allegheny Union Baptist Association (AUBA) of Pittsburgh and pastor of the Morning Star Baptist Church in Clairton, Pennsylvania. Rev. Stevenson was a 2005 graduate of RPTS.
“We wanted to honor the work of Reverend Stevenson,” noted the Browns, “His passion for the Kingdom of God was an inspiration to many.” Reverend Stevenson completed three degree programs on the RPTS premises: a Geneva College associate’s degree through the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry, a bachelor’s degree through Geneva College’s Adult Degree Completion Program, and a Master of Theological Studies at RPTS. He believed passionately in the role of education in his own life, and in the lives of those to whom he ministered.
Dr. Jerry O’Neill, President of RPTS, commented, “We are very grateful for the vision of James and Linda Ross Brown in starting this scholarship in memory of Reverend Jerome Stevenson. Pastor Stevenson, possessing an incredible zeal for education, was a highly respected pastor in our city, as demonstrated in his position with the AUBA at the time of his death. We hope that many others will want to contribute to this fund, especially designed to help minority and urban students in the greater Pittsburgh area.”
The scholarship is intended to assist students with tuition and book expenses while studying at RPTS. Contributions to further expand the impact of this scholarship fund may be made to RPTS, 7418 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15208. Please indicate “Jerome Stevenson Scholarship” on your donation.
President Jerry O'Neill with Mr. and Mrs. Jim and Linda Brown.
