RPTS 2011 Commencement Scheduled for May 20
The Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS) will honor 18 graduates during its commencement ceremony on Friday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m., at Memorial Park Presbyterian Church (EPC) on 8800 Peebles Road, Allison Park, PA 15101. Thirteen graduates will receive their three-year master of divinity degrees, three graduates will receive their two-year master of theological studies degrees and two graduates will receive their doctor of ministry degrees, the first ever to graduate from the program.
About the Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Kim is the Vice President of Kukje (International) Theological University in Seoul, Korea, serving since March 29, 2011. Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Kim was Senior Pastor of the Korean United Church of Philadelphia, PA (PCA) from 2005 until March, 2011.
Dr. Kim was the valedictorian of Seoul National University with a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy. He received his M. Div. degree from Chongshin/Hapdong Seminary in Seoul, where he was also president of the student body, his Th.M. degree from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, and his Ph.D. degree under R. B. Gaffin and Sinclair Ferguson from Westminster Theological Seminary studying the life and teachings of John Calvin. Dr. Kim was a Professor of Systematic Theology at Hapdong Theological Seminary, Suwon, Korea, from 1993 to 2005, and the Executive Director of the Korean Evangelical Theological Society from 2003 to 2005.
Dr. Kim has published more than fourteen volumes in the Korean language. He labored as a church planter of a congregation with over 300 members while being a full time professor. He was the keynote speaker at the International Calvin Congresses in Princeton and Edinburgh. He is a member of the International Calvin Congress Praesidium. He and his wife have been married for over thirty years and have three children – two daughters and one son.
